Heather's birthday

It was Heather's birthday yesterday, so Beryl took me over to give her a birthday present. Here are some of the pictures we took while we were there.

Lost Dog

Yesterday, as we were returning from our walk, a strange brown chocolate labrador ran and hid in our gateway. It was a stand off for a few seconds, with the lab waiting for us to go on and me wondering how to get past him. He was friendly, but quite nervous and lacking in the steetcred of a seasoned street walker. In the end I got Finn to sit while I caught him and checked his collar, luckily he had a tag with a phone number on, so I put finn indoors, left him in the garden and phoned the number, naturally there was no reply, so I left a message saying where he was. When I went back outside he had escaped into next door! I retrieved him and put him on Finn's lead and wondered what on earth to do with him. I didn't want to take him indoors as both cats were in and Tara still hasn't recovered from her advevture with the R.S.P.C.A. yet and I didn't want to traumatise her anymore. I remembered hearing but never seeing a large dog barking at the end of the road, was this were he had come from? so off we went to find out. No they had a black labrador, back we came, none of the neighbours Knew him and I was getting really worried by now, I didn't want to have him indoors, I couldn't let him go as I'd left the message saying were he was and he didn't look as though he was used to fending for himself anyway, I didn't want to get in touch with the R.S.P.C.A. after all my comments regarding my neighbours and Tara, and I REALLY didn't want to stay in the rain in the garden with him! luckily at this point a car came along the road with his owner in. She was really pleased to find him and he was pleased to see her and everything ended happily. It just shows how important it is to make sure the name tag hasn't got lost...........must check Finns.

Frosty Morning

I woke up yesterday morning and realised that the sun was shining! It was a lovely crisp frosty morning, just right for tramping across the fields with my camera, so before we'd evan had breakfast off we went. Here are some of the photos we took.

This side of the hedge the sun was shining.

And this side was thick frost, the first we've had this winter.

The wood pigeons were still asleep in the hedge.

We went to the end of the track and then turned round and came back again.

Past the disused sewage works which is now an unofficial nature reserve were you can usually hear several different birds singing at once.

And back home for breakfast, egg and bacon for me and dog food for Finn.

Guy Fawkes Night

Finn had a wonderful time barking at all the whizz bang whistle noises happening outside tonight. To be honest it was only the whistley fireworks which made him bark, he didn't really take much notice of the others. Poor Smudge dived behind the sofa at the first 'pht' and Tara really must be going deaf because she just sat still and didn't take any notice at all.
Sorry there aren't any pics for this but I was eating my dinner while all this was happening.

Autumn Leaves

Finn has been helping in the garden, the sound of a broom or wire rack drives him demented, and he does enjoy being 'helpful'

Would somebody please tell him we couldget the job done twice as fast if he DIDN'T help
